 Janet Schultz

Janet Schultz, Dollmaker and Fabric Lover of All Things
Janet’s creative journey began as a teenager-making her own clothes! Currently, she is involved in a variety of creative activities but her primary passion lies in making cloth dolls. While she loves making primitives and folk art dolls as they bring back memories of childhood, her recent exploration in making art quilts has inspired her to create more colorful dolls including her new patterns and designs for A Modern Annie, the Gypsy, and Dance to the Rhythm of Life. She loves experimenting with different mediums and is constantly learning new techniques to incorporate into her dolls.

While living in Ohio, she had the opportunity to teach and sell her dolls, so when she moved to Southern California, she continued teaching, showing, and selling her dolls. She teaches at Piecemakers in Costa Mesa and The Paper Clip in Big Bear Lake where she currently lives, and at her studio amongst the eleven pine trees. Her dolls are available at the Village Quilt Shop and Paper Clip in Big Bear Lake as well as by special order. Her “Best Friends” challenge doll was published in Art Doll Quarterly. Her mantra is simple-every moment is an opportunity to “paint” your best life. The tools-play, believe, laugh, dance, care, understand, patience, try, imagine, dream, and love-do these everyday

Theresa Bondurant Mixed Media Fiber Artist
I have been creating all my life.  I began sewing as a young child.  My great-grandmother taught me to sew and embroider.  I have always loved the feel of textures so fabric has always been my first love.

My passion, in addition to the creative magical process itself, lies in using recycled materials.  I am inspired by the humble simplicity of the use of re-purposed materials and wonder what stories these materials hold.  Thrift shops, garage sales and ETSY offer a wide selection on wonderful, dreamy fabrics at a price I cannot turn away from.

Over the years I have taught a variety of classes such as pearl restringing and beaded earrings.  A few years ago I turned to making art quilts and felt this was the area of art I have been looking for.  With all the rusty bits, trinkets, ribbons and laces…..I knew I was home.

I am currently teaching classes in art quilting, art shrines and creative embellishments.  I truly feel blessed to have been given the gift of creativity and feel I am living the life I was meant to live.  My motto is CREATE EVERY DAY and this will keep my soul happy!
